Aloha All,
Just an update on some of our Brothers.
Clem Enoka’s funeral service will be held from 1-5 pm on Saturday, Oct 8th at the Kamehameha Schools Chapel, per his wife Maylene. Gathering to follow at their home in Waimanalo. She and the family is just so touched and grateful to all of the Brethren that have been calling, visiting, and/or praying for them. Imua, Kamehameha!!!
Spoke with Sterling Lau at Queen’s Medical Center, Queen Emma Towers, Room 859. He said he is very thankful for the tremendous outpouring of prayers, love and support, and to send his love to everyone. Said he is projected to be at Queen’s for another three weeks and he is habilitating with a walker, meanwhile. Told him I fly into HNL for Clem Enoka’s funeral on Oct 8th, Sat, and will visit him. Anyone else can, please call and/or visit Sterling.
Information received today that our Bruddah Prince Kekaulike has passed on. Previously having suffered a stroke, Prince succumbed today, to pneumonia. Please keep his family in prayer. Prince was one heck of a Bruddah. Imua!!!
Speaking of pneumonia, spoke to Joseph Ledbetter today as well. He said he has pneumonia and welcomes all the prayers he can get. Most of you know that his left leg was amputated from his diabetic condition. Anyone able to, please keep him in your prayers and call and/or visit him at the Avalon Care Home on Kam IV Rd. in Kalihi. He is walking with his prosthesis and wants to get out of there. His lovely wife Soonie also thanks everyone for their prayers and she is solidly by his side, in prayers as well.
When I visited with Willie Gidden in Pali Momi on my last trip to Oahu, he said he would be there for about a month. I called today to follow up on him and he is gone, apparently home with his family. As most of you know, he suffered a heart attack. Please continue to keep our Brother and his family, in your prayers.
On my way back to Hilo today (Sat, Sept 24) from Waikoloa, had the opportunity to stop by Larry Mehau’s home in Waimea, visiting for about an hour and a half. Please keep our Brother in your prayers as well. And his wife, Bev. Imua!!!

Even though we are getting old(er) and we are well aware of the inevitable, the pain still strikes hard and deep. Our “swinging-from-the-chandalier” days are over…well, they should be…so we should be extra careful in all we do. We also have to safeguard ourselves from simple acts, like falling. That can exacerbate our conditions into other injuries/illnesses…then, BANG! We gone too.
As Brother/Pastor Jeff Yamanutsa mentioned at Fred Schultz’s services, the stark fact is that we all have to come to know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord & Savior, BEFORE we take our last breath. It’s not about religion. It’s about a personal relationship with The Creator of this Universe. (No, we didn’t evolve from The Big Banana…apes). Once we take that last breath and our spirit leaves our human body, it’s curtains. We had our chance. Also, the chance to forgive anyone that may have hurt us too, IS GONE. PAU. No closure…for either party.
After that…it’s Eternity. That is an awful long time. Either in Heaven…or Hell. Y’all can buy into this or not. What you got to lose? God is after the souls of men…so is the Devil.
God Bless, Malama Pono & A Hui Hou, larry.
P.S. There are many more Brothers & Sisters we need to keep in our prayers. I will write another list, later.
